Author Interview: Lesley Phillips and Her Book The Midas Tree
Jenny Keller Ford:A couple of days ago the author of The Midas Tree stopped by and talked about creating the ideal fairy tale. Today, I’m interview her about her new book The Midas Tree, as well as other interesting aspects of her life. Hi, Dr. Philips, and welcome to my blog! Are you ready for some really tough questions? Just kidding. I’ll go easy on you. Tell us a little about yourself? Perhaps something not many people know? Lesley Phillips: I used to have lots of secrets, but these days I’m like an open book. I used to be a clairvoyant by night and a biotech business executive by day. I kept the two worlds separate – just like a superhero does…. MoreAuthor Interview with Jenny Keller Ford
Tasleem Bhanjee: I love that Joshua learns to say grace before eating. Can you share more about the power of saying grace? Lesley Phillips: Words have great power. They carry energy. By blessing your food you are purifying it before eating it. In giving thanks for what you are about to eat, you come to the table with an open heart, and as like attracts like, this positive energy attracts more of the same. Today this is even more important than ever when you think of what our food is exposed to in the form of pollution, radiation and chemicals. Saying grace is also a way of recognizing the continuity and connectedness of all life. By connecting for a brief moment as spirit, before we eat, we tune into the divinity within ourselves and of those creatures who gave their lives to sustain ours…. Jonni Gray: First off, sincerest congratulations on not just coming up with an amazing story, but on writing it all in such a polished manner. That’s quite the accomplishment, Lesley. For those interested in the process, how long did it take you? Lesley Phillips: Thank you Jonni, it took me about a year to write the book. However it could have been written much more quickly. The limiting factor was my time rather than the material itself or flow of the material. The outline for the book came to me through a series of visions I had one night after I had been meditating on clearing my blocks to being a writer and on tuning in to what it was that I was meant to write. That night I couldn’t sleep because the book and all its characters were pouring into me…. More

Lilla Csongrádi:“Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read the manuscript of your book that will be published soon. It was quite a sensation to go through the stages of a meditation class through a child’s perspective….How did you wrap this magical story around it? Lesley Phillips: It came to me through a vision. I did not plan that I wanted to write a children’s book, I did not plan that I wanted to teach meditation in a novel way. But what I did plan was that I wanted to write and communicate spiritual information to a larger group of people. So I meditated on clearing my blocks to writing. I spent an evening in deep meditation just focusing on clearing my blocks to being a writer … MoreA Bridge Between Science and Spirituality
